Well, congratulations if your other half popped the question! Now it's time to begin the plannig of your BIG DAY!
Once you have decided WHEN you will get married, it's time to let your guests know about it.
Save the date cards are a great way to announce your engagement and of course help guests to plan ahead and save that date!
It's a good idea to send them out about six months in advance, but if you are planning a destination wedding or your big day falls on a public holiday, better to send them eight - nine months before.
It's always nice to receive a save the date card. So even if you see someone every day and they already know about your plans (including your mom and dad, best friends,...) they should get a save the date. Remember only send them to people you know you definitely want to be there, of course.
What information should be included?
Just few key details: couple's names, date and general location (just the city and state for example).
It's a good idea to add "formal invitation to follow". You can also provide a link to your wedding website. No registry info at this step.
